Trip Overview

Langtang valley is one of the most beautiful places in Nepal with its appallingly verdant landscape and authentic culture furnished with the attitude of gratitude. Being on the northern side of capital, this valley holds several guesthouses adorned with modern sophistication for your comfortable stay throughout the trek. This valley is amazingly beautiful having the potential to linger every eye on its charm. Perhaps, this is why Langtang valley had been the soul of every adventurer for several decades until the 2015 earthquake.

Local inhabitants were greatly threatened by the earthquake that hit Nepal in 2015. Because of this, they were compelled to leave the valley and now when the situation is better, they have returned to re-establish Langtang valley in a more sustainable and safer way. However, this is a big challenge for them to do it.

By choosing this trek, you will be a part of this new and sustainable Langtang. They are not asking for charity; they just want you to enjoy the bewildered nature of Langtang valley and pay for what you do. This is a win-win situation. On the one hand, you will have a good time in the alpine grassland of Langtang alongside the incredible view of mountain vistas, while on the other hand, you will assist in the renovation of this wonderful region of Nepal.

The route is suitable for all the trekkers and takes you to some of the beautiful monasteries and lush woodlands. As most do, at the end of the day, you become convinced with the question, why Langtang? Do a survey and choose the best one.

Short Langtang trek

I hiked the Langtang Trek with Santa as my guide. He had been my guide ten years earlier on the Poon Hill Trek. I had a great experience with him that time and had stayed in touch with him, so when my girlfriend and I decided to go trekking in Nepal this time, I reached out to Santa to see if he was available. He responded right away and in a series of effortless exchanges, he found out what we were looking for, provided a number of different options and once we had decided, he arranged everything for us. We decided to go with the Langtang trek as it was within in our timeframe, had beautiful scenery and had friendly local people along the way. Santa anticipated the experience we were looking for and ensured that we would have a great trek. After meeting us at the airport he set us up in a guest house in Tamel and gave us some time to rest after the flight. All the travel and accommodation was arranged, but he also ensured flexibility in terms of any changes if we wanted to stay longer or continue further with the guesthouses. Our porter was also very helpful and kind and ensured we were safe and taken care of always. We got along very well with all the guesthouse owners and always bought some of the food they had grown themselves. Our favorite thing was buying different ingredients at each stop along the way and getting the guesthouses to add them to our food as we went along. Each area of elevation was suited for different crops so it was really special having them all together in a soup at the highest point. The range of natural landscapes on the Langtang Trek is really magnificent, and we were amazed at how the terrain changed so quickly from one part of the trek to another. Santa grew up close to the area and had done the Langtang trek many times, so he knew all of the local people who owned the guesthouses and always ensured we were staying with the friendliest guesthouse owners. Santa always went out of his way to help us have a great time and even lent us some money after we had run out until we arrived at the bottom. I would not hesitate to give my highest recommendation to Santa as a trekking guide. He embodies the spirit of Nepalese hospitality like no other and is very passionate about his work as a guide. If you are taking a trek in Nepal, you will be in great hands and have an excellent trek with Santa leading your way. I would also recommend the Langtang trek specifically as it not too long, has beautiful panaromic views, has wonderful local people and is remote enough to get you away from the crowds. Happy trekking!

Excellent Guide

I feel absolutely honored to have experienced the 8-day Langtang Valley trek with Santa. He is the kindest, most helpful and most knowledgeable guide I have ever had, and I have hiked in countries all over the world! He is always willing to go the extra mile to make your experience better. This was my first multi-day hike, and Santa enabled my partner and I to climb the Tsergo Ri summit (4984m high). I am so proud of myself for achieving this, and it is all down to Santa. His organizational skills are excellent and he always made sure we stayed in the nicest rooms possible, ensuring we had a beautiful view and ensuite wherever possible. He is almost fluent in English and knows all the best spots to eat. He seems to know all the locals wherever we go and is clearly very well-regarded in the trekking world. I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone. It became so obvious to us why so many of his clients are repeat customers, who wish to explore Nepal with Santa time and time again Jasmine- UK
